Changes in fatigue in rectal cancer patients before and after therapy: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Fatigue is a common problem among rectal cancer patients and can affect their quality of life. This study conducted a systematic review to better understand changes in fatigue severity in rectal cancer patients before, during, and after they undergo therapy.We used preset keywords to search the Cochrane Library, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL (...) differences (SMDs) of the pooling effects size were 1.013 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.217-1.810), - 0.551 (95% CI - 0.647 to - 0.456), - 0.330 (95% CI - 0.427 to - 0.233), and - 0.149 (95% CI - 0.221 to - 0.078), respectively. Subsequent analysis with a linear mixed effect model revealed that the estimate of the time variable was - 0.226 (p = 0.047), which indicates that the severity of fatigue varies over time and over the course of treatment. The influence of mental fatigue on brain activity: Evidence from a systematic review with meta-analyses. The occurrence of mental fatigue during tasks like driving a vehicle increases risk of injury or death. Changes in electroencephalographic (EEG) activity associated with mental fatigue has been frequently studied and considered a promising biomarker of mental fatigue. This is despite differences in methodologies and outcomes in prior research. A systematic review with meta-analyses (...) was conducted to establish the influence of mental fatigue on EEG activity spectral bands, and to determine in which regions fatigue-related EEG spectral changes are likely to occur. There are limited pharmacological therapies for managing PSF. Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi) is a frequently used Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in the treatment of fatigue in China. To systematically appraise the literature on the prevalence, types, and predictors of sleep-wake disturbances (SWD), and on the relationship between SWD, fatigue, depression, and quality of life in children and adolescents with traumatic brain injury (TBI).MEDLINE, PubMed, PsychInfo, Web of Science, and EMBASE databases were searched, reference lists (...) involving mild TBI participants included TBI severity, male sex, preexisting SWD, high body weight, and depression; while injury severity and internalizing problems were associated with SWD in moderate-severe TBI participants. A biopsychosocial network model of fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis: a systematic review. Fatigue in RA is prevalent, intrusive and disabling. We propose a network model of fatigue encompassing multiple and mutually interacting biological, psychological and social factors. Guided by this model, we reviewed the literature to offer a comprehensive overview of factors that have been associated with fatigue in RA. Six categories of variables were found: physical functioning, psychological (...) functioning, medical status, comorbidities and symptoms, biographical variables and miscellaneous variables. We then systematically reviewed associations between fatigue and factors commonly addressed by rheumatology health professionals. Correlations of fatigue with physical disability, poor mental well-being, pain, sleep disturbance and depression and anxiety were ∼0.50.
